War of 1812 (PBS)The run-up to last’s years centennial anniversary of the War of 1812 was marked by the release of a sizable number of on-line, film, and commemorative productions designed to draw attention to one of America’s (and the world’s) more consequential, but little known, conflicts. As is often the case, the PBS production was one of the better ones. The entire documentary (released in October 2011) is still available for streaming on-line from PBS. It comes in at just under two hours in length. It’s highly recommended for those interested in reviewing the subjects we covered and for providing supplemental materials and differing viewpoints than those presented in the textbook and class lectures. The documentary’s accompanying website [click on the image to the left] is also worth browsing.
