Up until Grand Theft Auto V, the ‘GTA’ series had one main producer: a man named Leslie Benzies. He was renowned for his work directing the development and marketing of the flagship AAA open world series, but left Rockstar in 2016, demanding royalties for the success of GTA V as he left to assemble Build a Rocket Boy.
