The Second Team Death Match of HoVG’s Fall 2019 Season proved to be an entertaining affair as nearly every squad entered the Arena equipped with one or more Items to aid in their battle.

At the outset of Round 4, Fibonacci 5 made history when they launched HoVG’s first-ever offensive attack on an opposing team by targeting Team Rocket with a Magic Eraser. Unfortunately for the Five, Team Rocket had come prepared. They created a defensive smokescreen with Bilbo’s Peace Pipe – bringing the brief skirmish to an end with a grin and a toke.

The battle of wits resumed uninterrupted until the end of Round 11 when Too Much Water unleashed a Trickster’s Marrotte, forcing the now defenseless Team Rocket to switch answer sheets with Grandmasters! A brief bout of bedlam (copiously seasoned with sentence enhancers from a greviously wounded Team Rocket) immediately ensued. By the time the (proverbial) smoke had cleared and the (literal) shouting had subsided, The League of Evil Exes had emerged victorious. Aided by their newly crafted Tome of Knowledge they scored a total 550 points to claim the “Eye of the Tiger Achievement.” Grandmasters placed second (on the strength of Team Rocket’s answers from Rounds 1-11) with 510 points. JAVAP, likewise aided by a Tome of Knowledge, scored 495 to take Third Place.
