The death mask of Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin has sold at auction for £13,500. 

The 12.5-inch bronze death mask ,which clearly shows the dictator’s trademark moustache and came with casts of both of his hands, was sold to a telephone bidder on behalf of an overseas client.

The mask of the former General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, who died in on March 5 1953, was at the centre of a bidding war at the The Canterbury Auction Galleries.
